With three stops and wonderful weather (for November) we ventured out for a full day of sketching in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Urban Sketchers.
Sw Park, New Deal Distillery and Cartopia. Thanks everyone for a great day!

Oregon City Municipal elevator
A quick outing on Saturday with the Portland Meetup watercolor group to the Oregon City Municipal elevator. My first visit to the elevator. Some nice views from inside and out. A path follows the ridge and may hold some additional views for future trips.

La Paz Mexico
With the cold, icy January weather here in Portland, we were lucky enough to to embark on a short escape to LA Paz México on the Baja peninsula.
Of course the sketchbook went with me and I captured a few scenes along the way.

The Foundry
I'll throw in another sketch into the mix of the giant press in the old foundry. Turned out to be a great day of sketching with the group and a unique opportunity to sketch something a little out of the ordinary. Ink sketch with markers.

A few days in Chicago
Escaped to the windy city of Chicago for a long weekend in mid October. A perfect excuse for doing some urban sketching. Not only was the Lakeshore area great for sketching but also the Lincoln Park neighborhood that we stayed in. Well maintained brownstones and corner markets. We also spent several hours in The Field Museum and took in the Chinese Terracotta Warriors exhibit.

West Coast gathering in Tacoma, Wa.
Finally getting around to posting my sketches from the West coast Urban Sketchers gathering in Tacoma last August. What a great event! Met many nice and truly inspirational people, a nice city to sketch and the event without flaw.
I am very much looking forward the the announcement of the dates for the 2018 International symposium in Chicago and the next West coast gathering in Vancouver BC so I can start making plans.

"Urban" sketching
Following are a couple of sketches I worked on while visiting southern Washington's Gifford National Forest last weekend near Mt. Adams. Scenes from Panther Creek and Peterson Prarie National forest campgrounds.
I've been working on landscapes, trees, distant mountains, etc. Still struggling with water. Moving water expecially.
